Dr. Jan van den Biesenis strategic advisor to the industry associations AENEAS, INSIDE and EPoSS and member of the governing board of the Chips Joint Undertaking.
As a physicist educated at Leiden University, he spent one year as a postdoc at UC Berkeley before joining Philips in 1983 to focus on semiconductor research. In addition to a one-year secondment to Hitachi in Tokyo, his career at Philips spanned roles in strategy, government relations and policy for collaborative R&D, culminating as Head of Public R&D Programs and Vice President. Meanwhile, he complemented his education with an Executive MBA and engaged in industrial and European policy roles, including advising the European Commission and serving on the board of the ARTEMIS (later known as INSIDE) industry association, the management committee of the AENEAS industry association and the governing board of the ECSEL Joint Undertaking.
Since retiring from Philips in 2017, he has continued as an independent consultant. Among other assignments, he has been supporting AENEAS, EPoSS and INSIDE as the three private members of the Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking and the Chips Joint Undertaking.
